The prestigious Vannevar Bush Award was presented to Professor Raj Reddy of the School of Computer Science by the National Science Board. The award recognizes his pioneering research in robotics and intelligent systems, as well as his significant contributions to the formulation of national information and telecommunications policy. In 1979, Reddy was founding director of Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Institute, the first in the nation, and was dean of the school from 1991 – 1999.
