The Pearl River Delta in China is formed by three major rivers, the Xi Jiang, Bei Jiang, and Dong Jiang, and it is home to Sun Yat-sen University, a bustling research university with nearly 53,000 students across four campuses. SYSU recently partnered with another university that has a campus where three rivers meet: Carnegie Mellon. SYSU and CMU are establishing a joint Institute of Engineering in Guangzhou, China, offering MS and PhD degrees in electrical and computer engineering beginning in 2013.
