Benjamin Franklin, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Joan Miró, and Albert Einstein have all been inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious academies. Among the latest inductees is Mel Bochner (A'62), who is considered a leader of the American conceptual art movement. Works by Bochner, who designed the Kraus Campo garden for Carnegie Mellon in 2005, are displayed at MoMA, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Musee National d'Art Moderne in Paris.
