When Jure Leskovec (SCS'08) started on his dissertation, little did he know it would eventually land him in France and attract attention from his peers around the world. In June, he traveled to Paris to receive the 2009 SIGKDD Doctoral Dissertation Award from the ACM Special Interest Group on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining. The award is given to only one doctoral candidate annually who has conducted outstanding research in the field of data mining and knowledge discovery.
