When Pradeep Khosla (E’84, ’86) became chancellor of the University of California, San Diego, earlier this year, CMU’s Carnegie Institute of Technology needed a new leader. The provost, Mark Kamlet, turned to someone he calls “an outstanding educator and scholar” to be interim dean: Kumar Bhagavatula (E’80), professor of electrical and computer engineering and associate dean for graduate and faculty affairs at CIT. In announcing the appointment, Kamlet said: “The college and university will be in very good hands.”
